I visited Penang and stayed at the DoubleTree Resort hotel for 5 days. My time there was spent in the hotel, with plans to just relax. And since there wasn’t much around the hotel to see or do, I was able to accomplish that. Across the street was a small patch of sand area pretending to be a beach,. Great for pictures, but not sunbathing.
The hotel had several areas within the resort where you could hang out. Either at the pool or in one of several lounge areas, and not to mention the balcony in my room with a beautiful view.
The city of George Town was the closest to the hotel. I took a ride into the city one day for lunch and to pick up a few grocery items.
I read the George Town is a modern city with skyscrapers and shopping malls. There is also Verdant Penang Hill with hiking and a funicular railway that overlooks it all.
