I spent 4 days in Toronto, Canada at the One King West Hotel, which was located in the Downtown area. The hotel seemed to be the spot where people came by after work for drinks or a meal. The hotel had two sides to it. One was called the Historic and the other was called the Tower. I stayed in the historic side, which was probably a mistake. The room had a kitchenette with a nice comfy bed and good bathroom. However, the room was very dark. There was no natural light because this side of the building was blocked from any light by the tower building. I couldn’t tell if it was day or night, cloudy or sunny. I later found out that the historic building had only 12 floors, whereas the tower had 42 floors with an overhang . At first, I used the weather app until I realized that it wasn’t always accurate. I just decided that I was going out no matter the weather. Take an umbrella and keep it going!
Toronto has so many tall buildings and a lot of hi-rise apartment buildings. I’ve seen tall buildings in New York but there was something different in Toronto; maybe it was seeing so many of them grouped together. Even the view from the plane coming into the city shows the clusters of tall buildings protruding out from all others.
I was able to see a lot of city by walking around, and through tours. One stop was the St. Lawrence Market that had everything from fresh produce, meet, cheese, and of course baked goods. They also had several eateries to choose from. As I was walking around the market area, I was looking at people’s plates, I saw a group of women with some good looking fried fish. I took their recommendation and ate at Buster’s Sea Cove and was so glad I did. Another good meal was Lee Chen Asian Bistro (not far from the hotel). The Pad Thai was good and spicy, just how I like it.
