I spent 10 days in Málaga Spain at the Tandem Soho Apartments, in the Soho area. The apartment had 1 bedroom, full kitchen with a flat-top stove and microwave, with a large sized bathroom. Outside of the hotel was a nice coffee shop and on the corner was a place called the Cereal Boom Coffee. This place was unique with their walls lined with cereal boxes. If you wanted to order cereal, you would give the corresponding number that’s on the cereal box. I opted for toast with scrambled egg and bacon.

I arrived in Málaga during the celebration for Easter. Their tradition is to hold a week-long celebration with multiple parades on each day. When I arrived late that night, around 10:00 pm, there was a parade going through. The apartment was a few blocks from the main street for the parades, which means I could hear it but couldn’t see anything. I was able to see the afternoon parade on Good Friday.

On my first day out, I walked through the neighborhood and ran into beautifully architectural apartment buildings with shops on the lower levels. This was the main shopping area with everything you could possible need. And of course, there were several places to eat and drink. You could walk through this area and walk for hours and if you’re like me, you’ll get lost.

Near the area was a castle called Castillo de Gibralfaro, which is a 14th-century fortress sitting atop a 130-meter high hill overlooking the city and Mediterranean Sea. You can see great views from there. And next to the castle is the  Alcazaba fortress.

I rode the sightseeing hop on/off bus for a tour of the city. This gave me a chance to see more than the Soho area. I also visited the Picasso Birthplace Musuem, which is where Picasso was born.

I spent several days walking through the streets of Málaga and enjoyed every minute of it. This is a beautiful city that’s worth the visit.
