I took a break from Bangkok to visit Pattaya for a week. This was a good choice. The drive to Pattaya was about 2 hours by taxi. I stayed at the Holiday Inn Pattaya. A beautiful hotel. They had 2 towers: one was the Bay tower, where I stayed with a balcony view of the bay; and the other tower was the Executive tower, where the club lounge was located on the rooftop (beautiful view).

I’m not one for getting in the water but it is one of my most ideal spots to be. I find the water so calming. Sitting out on the balcony and watching the movement below of people walking along the beach with some in the water, is a great spot to be.

During my time there I of course rode the hop on/off sightseeing bus, which gave me a chance to see other parts of the city. I also took a Pattaya Discovery tour, which included a floating market. I didn’t realize that the floating market would be me in a canoe-type boat going around the market area. I was scared at first and wasn’t going to do it, but I decided to push back the fear and do it. After this tour I asked the tour guide about the Sanctuary of Truth and he said I should go. As a matter of fact, they would drop me off on our way back to city. This place was UNBELIEVABLE!!! I posted 2 videos on Facebook of the temple but there is nothing like seeing this in person. I was amazed at every turn. It is considered to be the largest wooden castle in the world. A trip to Pattaya is worth it, if just to see this place.

Once it was time to leave, I headed back to Bangkok.
